We also have been working with D356, fairly successfully, on a daily basis
for six years. Most occasions are by converting databases, such as PADS, to
356. When PADS introduced PowerPCB 2.1, we found a drastic difference in
the converted output whereas extraneous features were produced but
unmatched when overlayed onto the gerbers. Fortunately our software vendor
quickly responded to our dilemma and updated our database converter to
accommodate the change and not effect conversions of earlier versions.

I am still waiting to be exposed to 356A. If someone has a sample file to
submit to me, I would greatly appreciate it. Also it appears the jury is
still out on 356A per the IPC web site. I have been monitoring this
link...<http://www.ipc.org/html/framesetpwbindtypes.html>
