Hi Kevin,

FYI

In response to customer requests we have recently included a "pulse"
testing protocol to our PWB reliability testing methods. It is another
tool in our testing tool kit.

It appears pulse testing included in thermal cycle testing reduces the
number failure sites that develop in weak circuits. I guess you would
say pulse testing focuses the damage to one or two failure locations.

This test method has application in air bag deployment and
defibrillation circuits.

Sincerely,

Paul Reid

Subject: [TN] Info PCB Design for High Current / Short Duration Pulse

Hello everyone,

One of my PCB designers has come to me to inquire about IPC based PCB
design recommendations for high-current short-duration pulses over a
long distance, specifically 100A for 150 micro-seconds over 1 meter.

Are there any such IPC guidances, or anyone with such experience willing
to discuss with him?

Offline responses OK if preferred.

As always, TIA

Kevin Glidden
