Jason, I suspect that the best way to strip the rest of the coating would be
in either Hydrochloric and/or Aqua Regia (Hydrochloric + a little Nitric)
This is dangerous stuff.

The coatings are applied in high vacuum apparatus, and you probably have to
have it done by an optician... I assume they are glass?  if not, you may not
be able to do this at all?
