Do you have the ability to access the GIDEP alert database or have a
representative ? It is the Government and Industries Data Exchange
Program. With a part number and manufactures name you can try to see if any
alerts exist on your part. If not , after your failure is identified you
can get the manufacture or yourself to generate an alert if this is a
manufactures' defect. Go to WWW.GIDEP.org and see if it can help you. Have
you contacted the manufacture to see if they can help? Most will want to
help to insure they have a good product and they sometimes can spot a
problem in your process that may have caused it. Jon

We are currently having an issue with intermittent SMT LED's...
We will 100% test a production lot right after assembly and find zero
defects.
We will then re-test the parts 12-24 hours later and find LED fallout, up to
20%.
Solder joints have been evaluated and do not appear to be the cause.
We suspect faulty wire bonding, but have no way to prove.

Does anyone have an idea of cause?
Does anyone know of a capable test facility that has experience with LED's?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

John Morgan
