Steve,

Just remember that if you use silicone conformal coatings, you better
have a second set of spray guns. Silicon conformal coat materials is
difficult to clean and can clog the spray guns if urethane conformal
coating is used.

In my prior life, we had 2 separate sets of tooling and 2 separate spray
booths to keep silicones away from urethanes. We used silicones,
paralyne, and urethane conformal coatings for space applications, with
success depending upon the customer requirements. Not only were we
concerned with moisture resistance, but we were very concerned with out
gassing.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

Hi All!

I know when you look up properties for Silicone conformal coating, it
usually states that it has good moisture resistance, but is it really
that good?

I've heard that it is somewhat permeable to moisture, that if you were
worried about moisture, and the assembly were going to see the outside
environment, you would be better off with an acrylic, or urethane
coating.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
