Dear Mark
Roger is correct. Lead in optical glass has been voted on by the TAC (10 Dec
2004) and they have decided it should continue to be an exemption. The
revised Annex to RoHS will not be published until it has been formally
rubber-stamped by the Commission but this is a matter of routine. The Annex
also needs to be translated into all Member State languages before
publication.
ERA carried out the independent study of the EC which acted as the technical
basis for this (and other decisions) on exemptions. Our study is supposed to
be published by the EC at some point but we haven't been told when. If you
would like to know more do contact me.
Regards
Chris

Is this exemption written down anywhere? Where might I find out for sure?
Thanks,

I believe glass containing lead, such as used in optics, is now exempt.
