Subject: Re: [LF] RoHS & WEEE fun Poem

If you look at the exemptions - telecomms, in body medical etc, it is
obvious that a well informed engineer/s had an input to the legislation
and that the same engineer/s had some serious doubts about potential
reliability of products produced lead free........here is my offering.

To the tune of "wild rover"

I went to a CM who builds PCB
And he told me he only manufactures lead free I asked about quality he
answered "OK"
Theres ten million cell phones being used every day And its no nay
never...............no nay never no more Will the brakes on my car work
no never no more

I called in the tow truck to bring it on in But the boards in my cell
phone had only used tin I tried and I tried but the call was one way And
I've been stuck on the freeway for most of the day.
And its no nay never....no nay never no more Will the brakes on my car
work no never no more

So Eu poloticians please listen to me
Give me brakes in my car with good reliability You never will get it by
taking out lead Just pray that when YOU brake you won't end up dead And
its no nay never....no nay never no more Will the brakes on my car work
no never no more

Can you hear me now??????????????????

Subject: [LF] RoHS & WEEE fun Poem

The following is dedicated to all struggling LF process engineers across
the world.
(Here is edited & spell proofed version 1.01). Enjoy.

RoHS & WEEE

Oh! RoHS and WEEE,

Why did this path to Lead-Free?

What a mess you have created,

All our Tin-Lead expertise negated.

How dare EU underlings accept?

Lead-free is better than tin-lead concept.

Everything has to change all over again

SMT, wave solder, my rework fountain.

Flux, specifications and reliability test.

It has going me banana with no rest.

What my company will do on July 1, 2006

As a process engineer, I am in a terrible fix.

Japanese were smart, they started early

Their lead-free is working fine not poorly.

Only a year is left, who I should consult.

Web sites are full of opinions, no solid results.

Finally I started on LF process, on my own.

My manager insists on Japanese process clone.

New profiles, SAC solders and equipment upgrade.

Higher reflow, hi-temp fluxes and consultant's aid.

My LF process is giving me an average yield.

It was tough going believe me, a hard task indeed.

LF joints are not pretty, with shrinkage cracks.

But boards pass ICT test, said test engineer Jack.

What about LF Reliability, my manager inquired.

It depends upon application, reliability declared.

It is all politics; Lead does no harm to anybody.

Scientists & engineers opined in a fit of parody.

EU has some green eyed enviro politicians.

Who dictate the world thru lead-free dominion?
