Yes, John, that's essentially correct. Thanks for that clarification.
There is a bill winding it's way through the state legislature, AB2202,
that
would expand the RoHS part of the scope of the California Electronic
Waste
Act of 2003 to be the same as the EU: it would "prohibit an electronic
device from being sold or offered for sale in this state if the
electronic
device is prohibited from being sold in the European Union on and after
its
date of manufacture, due to the presence of certain heavy metals." Note
that
PBBs and PBDEs are already banned in California. It proposes to be in
effect
January 1, 2008.
This would nearly require that California become an EU member state. ;o)
