I asked for Greenpeaces's position about lead in solders considering
the total environmental impact but got no answer...

The Greenpeace / University of Exeter study remarks high lead
concentration (dust) around Asian backyard "recylers". I'm afraid
they didn't compare it with the neighbourhood of a silver mine...

The study says: "The EU has banned the use of certain hazardous
substances in electrical and electronic products from July 2006, to
facilitate safer recycling". Aha...
