Gordon, I asked your opinion because I was a little concerned that you had
made some kind of alloy shift and were supporting the news of Yamaha.
Perhaps they assuming that saliva, as it mixes with the air blown into the
instrument, breaks down the solder? IF that is the case I would be concerned
more about the conductors health and even the health of an audience on some of
the louder pieces. I also would then see a need to put a recycle vessel under
each instrument containing a spit valve, otherwise they would knowingly be
spilling a leaded substance into the environment. Such is the case now for us
pilots of small aircraft. The ounce or so of fuel sample we take in preflight can
no longer be poured to the ground-which I actually cannot disagree with-and
must be returned either to the aircraft or an approved can which can then be
disposed of properly. Which to me means bringing home and using in my lawn mower.
Nothing better than smelling av gas as you mow the yard :-)
