The point Is you can only "post" when the office is open, and they have not

Never to late on environmental issues.......

Ask Greenpeace...

Anyone know what is happening if anything on round 6? The post box on
exemptions appears to be closed at a critical time

All
It's too late anyway. 1st of July ist timeline for "put on the market", not
"in production". Those who have to change and didn't by now are far too
late. Anyway, I still don't know how the RoHS will be enforced. I'm afraid
that the whole thing will end as a farce with those being the stupids who
took the pain to change their production in time.

Nic,

I must agree that asking companies to Stop Production is absurd. It's
acceptable for your company to produce your product(s) on June 30th, but
not July 1st? This is a situation that has lost all sight of common
sense. If they can not review and approve or disapprove exemption
requests in a timely manner then they either need to delay the
implementation of the law in whole, or grant temporary approval to all
exemption requests pending further review. With only 43 days left, they
need to do this today, anything less is completely irresponsible and
unacceptable.

Subject: [LF] Some Interesting News on Exemptions

Dear All,

Just thought I'd pass on some interesting news I've gleaned from the UK
RoHS Enforcing body regarding pending exemption requests.

Firstly when emailed their reply was:
"We can only rely upon published exemptions. Pending exemptions have no
legal standing"

Secondly at a conference yesterday when asked what companies should do
that are awaiting a decision on exemptions come the 1st July, the reply
was:
"Stop Production"

So on the one hand we save the environment (allegedly), yet on the other
we put people out of jobs, make them default on mortgage payments and
negatively impact their lives. But hey. Maybe I'm getting too cynical
these days.
