I would have to agree, major bang for the buck!!!!
You're right a few quirks to get used to, and a few that still bug me,
but overall
very well put together package. I would say though when you get to the
very complex
rule set designs it can be a little tough to sort things out to get it
to do what you expect.
Been using it since the Protel days, they have come a very long way
since then.

Great ad. Very catchy.
Thought I should comment, seeing as it's an Australian product. I've
been using Altium (Summer '08) for just over a month now, and it blows
me away about how it gets the job done. I've been around a long time and
used more than a few cad tools, and this one is right on the money.
Speaking of which, it's not very expensive and represents fantastic
value with what it can do. And the 3D scenes in the blurb are really
that quick - I couldn't believe it when I was having a look at how it
works.
No , I don't make commissions. No, I don't sell it. And no, I don't have
any relatives working in the company. But yes, I'd like to spread the
word about anything that helps board designers. And let me tell you,
once you learn the funky Altium does some things, it's nothing short of
brilliant.
