If you use a lots of fine pitch and BGA parts and your require Controll Impedance and restrictions then you may want ot consider Cadence allegro(layout) and cadence consept(schematic) and signoise(simulation) packages. They don't have anything in common with protel (I don't know any common) but it will take orcad netin very easy. The full blown package with maintanace could reach 3 digi $ number for each license and require Sparc hardware about $10K-15K. Cadence also have Window NT/PC verision and I heard is about $40K but they have some minor bug to get rid off.
