You could try to encourage Cadence to reduce the gigantic marketing budget,
and increase the pathetic engineering budget, and develop a "what you see is
what you get" planes processor that would output one single data file like
the rest of the systems that have moved into the 90's. Hmmmmmm....?

If you have access to CAM350, Version 5 or know someone who has this
SW, then you can read in the gerber file(s) which make a
composite and "flatten" the composite to a SINGLE layer, made
of flashes, draws and polygons without all that stuff like positive,
negative etc.
