As far as I know, there has never been a moderator for this listserver.
Joining is as easy as sending the email to listserv.org,
and no human is required to "verify" or "approve" the membership.

If you send the subscription request you start recieving emails IMMEDIATELY
as I'm sure anyone on Technet knows (sometimes an email per minute?)
If that is changing to the point that someone cannot express disappointment
without being banned, that's shameful.

I sincerely hope your friend's experience was a simple mistake.
but
I could host an OPEN list on my server if this continues...

(as a matter of fact, the DIGEST feature on Yahoo Groups blows this one
away,
even though I don't like Yahoo that much)
