I have the new edition right here on my desk. It's a remarkable value
for the price, and I'd sure want it handy before needing to deal with a
large BGA, even if you've done them before. However it is aimed at
large BGA's; I don't see that it has much to say specifically about fine
pitch. (Is there a definition for 'fine pitch' re BGA's? I'd guess
<.8mm). But I'm pretty sure there is general information there that is
applicable anyway. My only gripe with it is that there is no index.
Remarkably little of it is Mentor-specific. I recommend it highly.

Have you looked at the book by Charles Pfeil from Mentor
Graphics? I have an earlier version it looks pretty good. You can buy
it on Amazon for $23.35

Does anyone know a good reference book or standard that provides
guidelines for footprint and escaping of fine pitch BGAs?
