Here in the US the only time I have seem the wheelie bin used is for recycling.

My theory is that no one reads labels anyway so it should not cause too much confusion.

I suppose it would help greatly if a load of AutoCAD & DXF symbols were made available for this by whoever it is that is specifying them.

The symbol for recycling things is a "do not put in a wheelie bin" one, what if our recycling bin "is" a wheelie bin ;-) (well it is Friday.)

The bar is there to show the product was placed on the market after 13
Aug 2005.

You can just forget the bar and use the bin plus date.

So without a hint of irony I note they put "Do Not Scale" on that
drawing!

Are we getting to het up about this solid bar? I mean I thought it was
only there to show orientation. Like on number 6 or 9 balls in the
lottery.

 Hello All

About the bar no doubt this MUST be > 1mm.

But if the size is decreased further and shrink until the bar touches
the cross. In
this case 0.6 * a is equal to 1mm.

Total height of the X is 1.5a= 2.5mm

The Bar in relation to the symbol will then look a bit different and
touched the bar.
The total symbol will be will be 3.5 * 2 mm. in size.

Best Regards

I stand corrected - if you interpret EN 50419 to say the bar must be 1mm
minimum then "a" is 3.333mm making the height of the "X" 5mm, which is
what I originally was advised.

Chris

Hello Newsgroup members.

In the standard EN 50419 the dimensions of the WEEE symbol is described
The additional symbol as described in 4.1 b) 2) has to consists of a
filled BAR of height h and width a.
The height has to be equal to the largest value out of the two values
0.3*a or 1 mm.
Using all ratios as shown in the drawing on page 6 of the standard the
smallest size would be attained when 0.3 *a is equal to 1mm. => This
would be 4 * 7 mm

However if the size is decreased further while the height of the bar is
maintained the symbol can shrink until the bar touches the cross. In
this case 0.6 * a is equal to 1mm. 0.3 * a is than 0.5 mm and the
largest of 0.5 and 1 is 1 mm. The bar is still 1 mm high so we follow
the rule.
The Bar in relation to the symbol will then look a bit different but
that is not prohibited if one reads the description.
The smallest symbol will be will be 3.5 * 2 mm. in size.

How must we interprete above?

Best Regards

Jan Mobers
