Graham is correct. HDBK-830 is the better choice. It is a guide to help
people understand everything about the coating application. It even
includes a section on measuring, 8.11.1. The CC-830 is a material
qualification spec only. It is the spec outlining all the testing
requirements of conformal coatings. It is what the coating manufacturers
follow to qualify their products. Actually, the handbook does a great job
of explaining the relationship of the different IPC specs in sections 2.15
& 2.16.

We are like Jeff. We measure with coupons for thickness verification after
the coating is dry to the touch. You can use a micrometer or as many do, a
device like the Defelsko Positector.
