Peter Some machines has feeder with features that prevents this situation. In this type of feeder the cover tape is pulled out and the component is protected by a barrier to prevent components sticking to the cover tape. Ask your machine vendor if they have this kind of feeders or even upgrade your current feeder type. In this way you don't need ask your customer to change the reel every time you have the problem.
