Robair, FYI. Also, Terry C could not tell me anything about how the solder sample kit comes in. If it comes by US mail, they would not see it. Jerry G said he has gotten sample to ship to Kester from Brad. When I looked for Brad, found he was gone today. It is now time to get rid of my customized wavesolder machine which I consider to be as good as wavesolder gets (with a little bit of operator finesse). I have referred to my Electrovert Econopak II in many previous emails. Now that it is time to say goodbye to this workhorse which is in perfect working order, I find it difficult to just let the used equipment dealers just take it for a song and a dance. It really is my baby and I hate to see it be sold as salvaged equipment. Our management has made the decision to keep the two other Electrovert wavesolder machines because they are newer, have more programmable functions and require less maintenance wrt dross removal. They are both nitrogen (contour nozzles) inerted but their quality performance, however, is no better than my customized Lambda machine. I attribute this to my nozzle modification with which I am able to tune the wave to the point that you could not see the solder moving except when the surface tension dross lines appear. This eliminated the connector bridging defect which constantly plagues the normal Lambda and Contour nozzle systems due to the microturbulence created by the Omega Wave paddle bar openings. This wavesolder machine was also retrofitted with an in-machine AT&T spray fluxer and we added a custom stainless steel ventilation spray collection system to eliminate any overspray on the topside of the boards. Ironically, the exterior At&T spray fluxers sold by Electrovert in later years almost matched our design except for one little item. I added a glass top to the collection cover so that when the equipment was started up for the first time, the overspray was visible which removed one of the guess in troubleshooting spray gun problems. If anyone is in the market for a wavesolder machine in the near future, please contact me before the end of the year as it is still being used daily for production. It always helps to see a used machine in action. I'd much rather see it go to a good (Technet) home rather than be retired into a dusty old warehouse and possibly never be used to solder high reliability electronics again. Enough said.......
