Steve, I was out for a few days on travel, but wanted to share more info with the group on this. Also, I have used the AMP calculations successfully that was referenced on the Technet, for some of the first PIH projects. One thing I did not see referenced was the fillet requirement. Many times your criteria can live with less then 100% fillet....Phil Zarrow (hello Phil, ya out there?) had some interesting formulas that had a FACTOR in his equations based on the amount of fillet required. He was pretty open to sharing this in the past, his e-mail is [log in to unmask], or phone at 603-868-1754. Also, an interesting alternative to PIH is solder-loaded headers, see this on TEKA's website at w3.bbsnet.com/TEKA (that's an old address, they may have a new one). Anyway, hope this info helps. Feel free to contact me anytime if more questions, PIH is a pet project of mine. Regards. I've got an article in front of me that I pulled from AMP's web site some time ago. It has lots of information that AMP developed for intrusive reflow. The URL shown on the top of the sheet is http://WWW.AMP.COM/product/articles/dd66.html. There are follow-on pages at /dd66a.html, etc. The only problem is, I can't seem to go back there by typing the URL, and I can't find any such article on the AMP site by going to product/articles. >> Hi Greg! You're not the only one who has directed me towards that article. It was referenced in some archived TechNet posts I read too...it had to be there somewheres since I seen so many references to it. I too had trouble finding that article. But being the "sleuthy" guy I am, I found it! Go to the main page http://www.amp.com, then click on the "products" tab at the top of the opening page. When the next page opens towards the top right-hand side of the page there will be a link called "Technology Journal", click that and the next page that opens there will be a links column on the left hand side of the page. Down towards the bottom there's an "other" link just under "Technology", click "other" and viola, there's the article! "Solder Volumes for Through-Hole Reflow Compatible Connectors" Amp musta' re-arraigned things at their site, that's why it was so tough to find... Thanks! -Steve Gregory- P.S. Thanks too Scott, John, and Justin, for the articles you sent me as well! ############################################################## TechNet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ############################################################## To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TECHNET <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TECHNET ############################################################## Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information.
