soooo . . . thats how ericsson ate qualcomm's lunch -----Original Message----- From: Ingemar Hernefjord (EMW) [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Tuesday, October 05, 1999 4:16 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] PCB Manufacturers I agree with Network man. We have had contacts with many PWB makers and feel that they are very much Art-of-the-state manufacturers, on the wave's front because of tough competition. Better Flight of Time, smaller vias, more layers, better solderability, better power dissipation solutions, finer lines, cleaner, cheaper, shorter time from drawing to final product, thinner, lighter, diversity of dielectric properties, faster machines, newer lasers, more rapid punches, better precision drilling, cleaner copper, better nickel barrier... fortunately we have not seen so much of the other side mentioned, it certainly exists, especially if you are a small garage company that order boards from another garage company, nothing negative about that, I mean that small companies don't have the resources. As a good example I use to show the inside of a JVC video recorder I have. What boards! Yam-yam. HiTech for an acceptable amount of money. I am very surprised though that a man of your position would so blatantly slam an entire part of the industry such as PCB fabricators. How could you support this comment " the PCB manufacturers aren't talking to their customer base. They definitely do not talk to the component manufacturers." I can understand you possibly proving your position for a few select shops, but you make this for ALL shops. Again, can you support this statement? Network Circuits, Inc. is one PCB fabricator that is indeed looking towards the future. We, like many other PCB shops in the country continually send personnel to IPC workshops, customer sponsored seminars and training, supplier and vendor sponsored training, etc. We do this so we can remain a leader in this industry. Management at this company is expected to remain current in all aspects of the industry that will affect the direction that this company is headed. It is the goal of network circuits to maintain an open line of communication in ALL AREAS with our customers, please feel free to visit us at http://www.networkcircuits.com to confirm this fact. I can understand you making this comment perhaps about a select group of companies you may have had bad experiences with; however, I take exception to you placing all companies under this demeaning umbrella. I would wish that you used better verbage and expression in future remarks, for there are many of us out here that are headed exactly where this industry needs us to go. ~climbing back down off the soapbox~ Sincerely, Franklin D Asbell, CQA, CECM Quality Assurance Manager Environmental & Safety Compliance Manager Network Circuits, Incorporated Irving, Texas 75061 >> ############################################################## TechNet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ############################################################## To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TECHNET <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TECHNET ############################################################## Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information.
