There is no reciprocation of the nozzle. An array of fixed nozzles incorporating solenoid valves which are switched on and off produce a low energy flux mist beneath the board. Flux liquid is sealed in a container, which is pressurized with gas to provide the hydraulic pressure. The pressurized liquid is directed to an array of low cost spray nozzles. A photocell detects the leading and trailing edges of the board. The operator programs the Start and Stop timing based on the distance between the photocell and the nozzles. The pulse spray duration and the frequency of pulses determine the rate of deposition. Pulse duration?s as low as 5 milliseconds can be selected; ensuring the smallest amounts of flux can be deposited. Conversely pulse duration?s can also be extended to a point where the nozzles are permanently "on? allowing maximum and excessive amounts of flux to be applied. Only the nozzles required for the board width or ?board in pallet? configuration need to be selected.
