Rick, DoE I recommend "Understanding industrial designed experiments" by Stephen Schmidt and Robert Launsby. ISBN 1-880156-03-2, Air Academy Press. It is written by Engineers - for Engineers and tries not to scare you with statistics. DoE software is included. I strongly recommend following a DoE course before trying out your first experiment. SPC I recommend Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Limited "Guidelines to Statistical Process Control". It is a UK publication with no IBSN. It is short (76 pages) and simple to follow.
