Steve,
On the fingers that are heavily contaminated with solder, try
using a wicking wire and remove as much of the solder as
you can before using the electric eraser. One particular
eraser refill (gray) that you can purchase looks like it would
be used in erasing ball point pen ink. This is an aggressive
eraser, so you would have to be careful not to remove all of
the nickel.
