Hi everyone, Has anyone ever heard of 1/2 slots on a PCB edge where the 1/2 slots would be used to solder a nickel 1/8" tab to the PCB. Basically the side of the board has a slot cut into it and that would be plated so that we can solder to it(the nickel tab will be soldered straight out from the slot, it will not come up from the top or bottom). We have a customer that is thinking this way. My questions is, can this be accomplished? Can we achieve a good solder joint that's reliable, and does this sound like something that can be manufactured at a board house, and on the assembly line? I hope this makes sense.
