Rick,

Our suppliers like to see a .040" solid round, with a .020" annular ring
of keep out area beyond that to give the best contrast.  They also like
to see a .200" clearance from the round to any pad.  If the .200"
can't be maintained, they sometimes suggest a different shape fiducial
so they can identify it better with their vision system.  They usually
tell us this during a design review before final layout.
