Dear colleague, The IPC Flexible Circuits Performance Specifications Subcommittee (D-12) will be meeting prior to the 5th National Conference on Flexible Circuits, Tuesday, June 8, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Denver Airport, Denver, CO. Now that IPC-6013, Qualification and Performance Specification for Flexible Printed Boards, has been published and the flexible circuits industry has had the opportunity to make use of the document, Roy Keen, Rockwell-Collins, D-12 chair, is asking you to provide feedback on the document. The primary focus of the meeting will be to review changes to Table 4-1, Table 4-2, Table 4-3 and Appendix A that were proposed at the D-12 meeting at IPC Printed Circuits Expo '99. Some in the industry had concerns with some of the testing frequencies in the three tables, which prompted the meeting attendees to call for a reevaluation of the tables' requirements and their relation to the requirements in the document text. The subcommittee also feels Appendix A doesn't serve its original purpose, which was to be an abbreviation of the requirements in IPC-6013, and they plan on shortening it to about 20% of its current size. Outside of these concerns, we are now looking to you, the users of this specification, to provide us with your feedback on IPC-6013. What are your primary concerns? Are there newer technologies IPC-6013 needs to cover? Based on the outcome of this meeting and the industry feedback provided, the D-12 subcommittee will determine if it is necessary to begin work on a revision A to IPC-6013 or work to publish an amendment to the document. So we will be able to have a determination as to the amount of people who plan on attending this meeting, please respond to me with your availability to participate in the meeting June 8, 1999.
