Go to: http://www.hoverdavis.com and check out what they have. Their feeders work on most major pick and place machines Siemens, Panasonic, Universal, Fuji, Zevatech, and maybe they've added more. It's pretty slick, seen it in action myself at Surface Mount International in San Jose last year. It's ain't cheap as far as feeders go, but it's less expensive than the other option I have for ya'. The reason it'll be a little more expensive than a regular feeder is ya' gotta figure it's a pretty specialized type of feeder. You don't need special nozzles or anything, the feeder pre-peels the label off of the tape and has it waiting for the pick-up head to come and get it...slick as snot! Hover Davis also can be reached by phone at (716) 352-9590 The other option is a full-blown pick and place unit that stands in-line with the rest of your equipment made by Brady (the label guys). At NEPCON West '98 when I worked for Zevatech, we were building a double-sided PCMCIA panel in a flip-line, down at the TAC line that had the Brady label placer in it. It did a good job as well. We were placing two .250" X 1.0" labels (a Cencorp ad label and a BarCode label) in between a row of 1206 and 0402 passives, with a flip-chip and a microBGA in close at either end too....my point being that it was accurate. With the Hover Davis label feeder, the placement will be as accurate as your pick and place machine is. Obviously, with a full-blown single purpose machine, there's going to be just a tad bit of difference between the price of that and the label feeder (snicker...you know I'm understating the difference) but hey, you may not have any pick and place equipment in which case the Brady unit may make more sense...or you want to apply the labels to the PCB BEFORE they go out to the production floor. Brady can be reached by phone at: 1-(800)-537-8791 Hope this helps! -Steve Gregory- But ################################################################ TechNet E-Mail Forum provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ################################################################ To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TechNet <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TechNet ################################################################ Please visit IPC's web site (http://www.ipc.org) "On-Line Services" section for additional information.
