Hi Bill, If the pads are laid out properly you can wave-solder SMD parts quite successfully without chip wave. If you can't wave-solder the parts 'side-on' to the wave due to design constraints, try wave-soldering the board at different angles to the wave. A generous immersion depth helps too - easier if you have a custom made board carrier. By the way, you might want to try soldering at 465 degF instead of 500, you'll have less of a risk of component damage and less dross too!!!
