Good Morning, You've probably heard enough about this virus thing, but I did recieve a reply from the sender of that email to me that had the happy99.exe file attached to it, Jeff and everybody was right, they didn't know their computer was infected. Since I was so public with my anger, I feel I should be just as public with my apology. Below is a copy of my apology email...like I said earlier, you learn something new every day... -Steve Gregory- TO: Mr. Steve Zeva From: EVERGREEN HITECH CONSULTANTS LTD. TEL: 886-2-27667722 FAX: 886-2-27630734 E-MAIL: mailto: [log in to unmask] 7 F., No. 35, Lane 13, KWAN FU SOUTH ROAD, TAIPEI, TAIWAN ******* VIRUS ALERT! ********* Do NOT open attachments named "HAPPY99.EXE" Dear Webmaster/reader please circulate this message as widely as possible. This Virus trashed our Hard Drive. Your friend did not know the virus exist .More about the ?uHappy99.exe?v and antivirus please see URL: http://www.trend.com./vinfo/security/sa020499.htm OR http://taiwan.cnet.com/briefs/news/asia/19990224h.html >> ****************************************************************************** ************** I want to apologize for my previous email, I thought the infected email had been sent to me intentionally as there was no text in the email, just the attached virus or worm file. There are many examples of viruses being spread that way, that is, a virus being mass mailed to people, and then not knowing what the file is, they open and run it. This virus is obviously more insidious than that. I thought I was a victim of a mass mailing. Again I apologize for my angry email to you. -Steve Gregory- ################################################################ TechNet E-Mail Forum provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ################################################################ To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TechNet <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TechNet ################################################################ Please visit IPC's web site (http://www.ipc.org) "On-Line Services" section for additional information.
