Hello all Since we are involved in the European projects concerning the recycling of electronic equipment we are also involved in the legislation process concerning the removal of lead. Now, this legislation is so far set down in draft PROPOSAL FOR A DIRECTIVE ON WASTE FROM ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT ( Art 4.4 ) . However, there is the faint possibility to exempt lead in solder joints from the ban if explicitly declared in an annex ( Annex III ) to the law. To bring lead in solder joints into this annex we need facts ( Numbers ). Preferably publications, reports of official bodies etc.: - Dissolution of lead / leaking into the environment in dumps due to rainwater, running water or other environmental influences - Comparison of the consumption of lead in solder joints to other applications such as building, ammunition, batteries ,alloys - Amount of lead used ( in tons ) and possible substitutes and their availability - Expected impact on the manufacturing of electronic equipment.
