Was this part of AMP's white paper material available on their WEB page or was this in a book you can purchase. Robert M. Metal Progress, 12/88, pages 49-52. This reference covers the basics very well and talks about the pros/cons of tin. Good Luck. We are having trouble getting the pin side in tin but is readily available in gold. My question is "is there any long term problems putting a gold pin in a tin plated socket"? For years people have put I/C leads into gold sockets without problem so it seems that this should not be a problem but thought I'd ask for any real life experiences.
