Dear Mr. Doty:

We have employed two methods to measure the gold, gravimetric and AA.
The gravimetric method is consistantly superior (at least within our
lab) in accuracy when RSD and % recovery of a known data were
evaluated.

I understand your concern, as acidification of the gold sample results
in the evolution of hydrogen cyanide gas.  Typlically, the sample size
is small though (< 10 ml) with either the gravimetric or AA method.
