Glenn - No, thankfully, there are no longer any specifications which attempt to establish minimum or maximum soldering temperatures. These temperatures are the responsibility of the assembly process engineer to establish and document dependent on the flux, equipment, product and most importantly THE COMPONENTS involved in the specific product. For many years, a lot of us struggled with the fixed limits imposed by many specifications, trying to solder products that were designed to a set of performance goals which made them almost impossible to solder under those limits. When MIL-STD-2000, et.al., expired, the responsibility for determination of correct soldering temperatures for all processes once again became a task based on the actual materials and processes involved. Specific temperature limits are normally determined from component manufacturers data on their specific products.
