I suggest you contact several of the SMD process equipment manufacturers and ask each one to list what they believe are the complete list of process variables; it's surprising how much expertise some have. Then ask them (or other users) to rank them using Pareto analysis it's a relatively quick & simple process. From this you can identify which are the major contributing factors to the processes and include them in your audit. Keep this in mind if you answer this message. I am working on a project to establish a process audit program for the SMT line at my company. I want to know what is the strategy for other engineers, such as the audit area and it's associated parameters. I think for each machine there is a lot of variables to measure against. For instant for the stencil printing process, one can measure the hardness of the squeegee, the speed of the squeegee, the angle of the squeegee, temperature and the humidity inside the printing area, the viscosity of the paste, thickness of the stencil....the list can go on and on......some of these variables may not be a critical issue of the process. Collecting these extra data means spending extra time and money for nothing. Therefore I would like to ask the professional in the fields to help me to define what is important and what is not for a process audit program. Thanks. ################################################################ TechNet E-Mail Forum provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ################################################################ To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TechNet <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TechNet ################################################################ Please visit IPC's web site (http://www.ipc.org) "On-Line Services" section for additional information.
