Ken, There may or may not be a risk to the crystals or oscillators themselves from the non anti static trays, but there will be a risk to other static sensitive components around the trays. The complete assembly work station and machine has to be static safe. Static fields, or discharge from the trays could affect parts in an adjacent anti static tray that are static sensitive. This is the reason why you shouldn't have things like polystyrene coffee cups, polythene plastic bags and so on on a static safe work bench. regards, Jeremy Drake Celestica Ltd ---------------------- Forwarded by Jeremy J Drake/HQ/CUK/Celestica on 30/09/98 11:51 --------------------------- Please respond to "TechNet E-Mail Forum." <[log in to unmask]>; Please respond to Ken Patel <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] cc: (bcc: Jeremy J Drake/HQ/CUK/Celestica) Subject: [TN] ESD ESD Experts, Is there any problem in using non anti-static plastic trays for crystals and Oscillators? re, Ken Patel ______________________________________________________ Ken Patel Phone: (408) 490-6804 1708 McCarthy Blvd. Fax: (408) 490-6859 Milpitas, CA 95035 Beeper: (888) 769-1808 ################################################################ TechNet E-Mail Forum provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ################################################################ To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TechNet <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TechNet ################################################################ Please visit IPC's web site (http://www.ipc.org) "On-Line Services" section for additional information.
