None that I'm aware of...but I guess it really depends where your board is going to be living the rest of it's life...I suppose there isn't really any more of a risk for problems than there is with a plated barrel. Although it IS pretty important that your finished holes are a good fit with the press fit pins, cause you don't have that "fudge factor" of the plating anymore. At a past employer, we built quite a few different assemblies for a major networking company here (hint: they're by great america), that used quite a few high density right angle press-fits because these boards plugged into backplanes. After a faux pax or two,...or three,...okay then, four...we got pretty good at it...(learning curve...you know how it is). One thing important, a good stable fixture, as well as a precisely drilled support plate accurately supporting the laminate close to the barrels will keep them from getting pushed out of the board. I don't know how you're doing this, manually with an arbor press, or with some sort of automated press, we just used a manual arbor press. Interestingly enough, we found out that we had less barrel damage when we had our ladies doing it rather than the guys...more delicate touch I suppose? -Steve Gregory- ################################################################ TechNet E-Mail Forum provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ################################################################ To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TechNet <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TechNet ################################################################ Please visit IPC's web site (http://www.ipc.org) "On-Line Services" section for additional information.
