Is the switch one that comes with the tape or are you applying a tape cover at some point in your process? If it comes with the tape form the manufacturer, they may be able to tell you what the process parameters are. The switches we assemble prior to reflows, wave etc. are purchased from the manufacturer with a protective tape in place. We haven't had any problems removing these. During rework, we apply a kapton tape to protect the switches and then remove it after the cleaning is complete. Any other tape type may be a problem. The DIP sees two reflow cycles. On SOME of the parts, we are experiencing extremely high tape removal forces, in some cases actually tearing the top off of the switch. 1) Has anyone else seen this? 2) I know two reflow cycles will be suspect... But any known problem? 3) Suggested solutions?
