Though it is usually better to have a little extra space, just in case, it would depend on which tools you plan to use for the rework. Which ever way you go, just make sure the rework tools have sufficient clearance to perform the tasks without disturbing nearby components. The design groups wish to use this real estate for other devices, ignoring rework requirements. My question is this: Is it better to have a "keep-out" area around BGAs for rework, or use up all available space around the BGA for a preferred design? Thanks in advance, Ernst Wallisch Manufacturing Engineering Computing Devices Canada [log in to unmask] ################################################################ TechNet E-Mail Forum provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ################################################################ To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TechNet <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TechNet ################################################################ Please visit IPC web site (http://jefry.ipc.org/forum.htm) for additional information.
