IR is tricky in that the emisivity of the part plays a large role in its ability to absorb IR energy. Max component temp's that I have generally seen max out at 140C. You might want to try using a connector with a different emisivity coefficient. If you can't get enough energy to the joints, you could also consider press- fit connectors.
