The correct patent numbers to reference are 4312692 and 4314870. Both patents refer to the mechanical mounting of surface mount components using a cured adhesive. We are in the process of setting up a small assembly shop and would be interested in the effects of the assertion of these patents. Jeffrey A. Anybody know? I tried to find these patents on the IBM Patent Server, but I found only non-SMT topics under these numbers. USP 4,812,692 http://www.patents.ibm.com/details?patent_number=4812692: "Motor" (Mitsubishi) USP 4,814,870 http://www.patents.ibm.com/details?patent_number=4814870: "Portable infrared imaging apparatus" (Comprix) None is from Matsushita, none is about SMT. I asked Mike C in the smtnet.com forum to provide more informations about these patents. Perhaps IPC could put the letter Mike C and Steve Gregory mentioned in this and/or the DesignerCouncil? ----------------------------------------------- Matthias Mansfeld Elektronik * Leiterplattenlayout, Bestueckung Am Langhoelzl 11, D-85540 Haar Postfach 1143, D-85529 Haar Tel.: 089/4620 0937, Fax: 089/4620 0938 E-Mail: [log in to unmask] Internet: http://home.t-online.de/home/matthias.mansfeld ################################################################ TechNet E-Mail Forum provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ################################################################ To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TechNet <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TechNet ################################################################ Please visit IPC web site (http://jefry.ipc.org/forum.htm) for additional information.
