It all comes down to cosmetics. A nice shiny floor or a flat/dull floor? The negative comments about waxes or ccoatings are related to durabiliy, sensitivity to moisture and wear characteristics. in your case, the waxing or coating would provide a shiny or gloss finish. Thereafter you could get away with a water buff (talk to a floor cleaning source) and spot touchup without having to recoat (for cosmetics) for a long long time. The minimum would be a water buffing for removal of debris, dust and marks on the surface.
