We are in the process of performing an analysis on OSP coated boards as
an alternative to HASL coated boards. So far everything looks
excellent. Outstanding wetting, solderability, less solder bridging
issues, better paste printing results, better component placement
results, better match of pad geometry with gerber data, no bow and twist
problems, flatter board surface, etc., etc.....

However our Manufacturing manager is concerned with the following
issues:

1. Moisture Sensitivity
2. Scratches through the OSP coating
3. Finger print sensitivity
4. Stricter Handling requirements

Will the boards have to be vacuumed sealed with desiccant to prevent
moisture damage? How sensitive are the boards to finger prints? What
is the typical shelf life of an OSP coated board? If the boards are
scratched through the OSP coating will we have soldering problems later?

Is there a contact person at Enthone (our supplier used ENTEK OSP
coating) who could help me with some of this?

These are just a few questions that need to be addressed, and any
response regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!
