Mr. Mullet,

I do not know about the type a or b for mask designation
nor could I find any information on it, however specifying
LPI soldermask only on the drawing should be
sufficient.  Since most of the industry is using LPI soldermask
now,  and should not be charging more for the product,  just stating in
your own company specs type B mask is LPI should be enough to
correct any misunderstanding by your board manufactures.
