Over the long run you can gain a rough idea (from a fabricator's point of
view) of complexity by using a hole per square inch metric.  It leaves a
lot to be desired but the data is redily available. This is sometimes all
that is available when quoting that would indicate density etc.  If
performed enough times on dissimiliar product, a pattern will form that
will alert you to potential mfg and test problems..
