IPC announces the availability of IPC-PE-740A, Troubleshooting Guide for Printed Board Manufacture and Assembly. This handbook provides guidance in the form of troubleshooting examples, process cause and effect information, and statistical methods for correcting problems in all areas relating to the design, manufacture, assembly, and testing of printed wiring boards. The handbook sections are organized by PWB process, then broken down by identified problems, their possible causes, and suggested corrective actions and/or control methods. Also included in the handbook is explanatory material on many of the processes and problems. Many sections contain handy charts of variables and effects, which act to summarize the troubleshooting information. In its second revision, the formerly titled Process Effects Handbook can be especially useful for beginning engineers who want to learn more about PWB processes and their control.
