Hello again Tomer,
We have used tape to protect gold edge connectors at HAL for many years.
The tape we use is from a company called Nitto UK , Tel. 01635 872172 and
Fax 01635 872332. The product is Hal tape N 700 series ( we buy it in 2
widths 12 mm and 19 mm ). We apply this to the gold area and heat to 80 C
for 20 mins, then roll the tape area to improve contact. The boards are
then ready for HAL. After HAL the tape is peeled off - most of the time
no residue is left, occasionally some is but this is easily removed.

As for the rubbing block for cleaning up the gold areas, we used to use
an " artefact" rubber - but we've not been able to find a supplier since
the original supplier stopped stocking them. We now use a similar item, a
scrub block - it's more aggressive than the original block but does work
if the applied pressure is not too great. The supplier for these blocks
is :- RS Components ( in the UK), Tel, 01536 201201 and Fax 01536 201501.
The product code is Scrub Block 216 - 2706.

Regards
Leon Snowdon
