Hi Ken - I am not a solder paste "expert", just a user! Was the solder paste jar properly sealed prior to putting it back into the refrigerator? We routinely use solder paste from partial jars that have been properly stored overnight for some low volume, hand stenciling operations. The jar must be sealed (the lid must be on correctly!) to prevent loss of the paste volatiles and to prevent moisture absorption. We also conduct the IPC JSTD 005 solder balling test everyone morning to evaluate the paste condition. We consume a jar (500 grams) in about 7-10 days so the time period is short which is also a factor. We haven't experienced any negative problems with this practice yet. Good Luck. Solder paste expert, Does anyone heard of using half empty jar of Solder paste next day after refrigerating overnight. Obviously paste has to come to room temperature before use. Does any paste supplier recommend this? This is kind of strange to me. My assembly house may be using leftover solder paste next day. Have happy Thanksgivings. re, ken patel ______________________________________________________ Ken Patel Phone: (408) 490-6804 575 Cottonwood Dr. Fax: (408) 490-6859 Milpitas, CA 95035 Beeper: (888) 769-1808 ############################################################## TechNet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ############################################################## To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TECHNET <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TECHNET ############################################################## Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information.
