Hi Jeff, 1.) This information is contained in Appendix A of IPC-D-279, 'Design Guidelines for Reliable Surface Mount Technology Printed Board Assemblies'. 2.) Software that makes reliability estimates can be a dangerous thing--the relationships involved have high sensitivities to some of the input parameters and thus bad inputs can give grossly incorrect answers. That is why I have refrained from marketing the information in Appendix A of IPC-D-279, 'Design Guidelines for Reliable Surface Mount Technology Printed Board Assemblies', which I contributed, in software form. I do, however, generate reliability estimates for the designs of my clients, and issue full reports that give solution options should the original design prove to provide inadequate reliability for the intended application. I also give workshops on the reliability of solder joints and circuit board PTHs and vias. Werner Engelmaier Engelmaier Associates, L.C.
